When I checked out The Year of Less from my local library I was excited to read a female authored book on converting to a minimalistic lifestyle.

This past week my father in law celebrated his 60th birthday party. Months before my mother in law approached me while we were spending time at the river and asked if I could put together a surprise party for him and I said I would. She was thinking that I was rather experienced in this field having attended my bridal shower and our wedding. My sister had thrown an amazingly beautiful garden tea party for my bridal shower complete with flowers in cute teapot centerpieces and chalkboards with punny but cute wording. Between my sister and I could pull together a very cute somewhat over the top party like that easily. Planning a birthday party for a sixty-year-old man, however, left me not knowing where to start.
I have played around with the idea of starting a blog for years. I've even built websites and deleted them all without ever publishing anything. While the thought of a blog had been in the back of my head for a while, it had always been something I thought only 'real grown-up' women had any real authority to create. |
